Hickernell Announces Property Tax/Rent Rebate Extension
6/13/2014
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue today announced a deadline extension from June 30 to Dec. 31 to apply for the state’s 2013 Property Tax/Rent Rebate program, Rep. Dave Hickernell (R-Lancaster/Dauphin) said today.

“For many Pennsylvanians, particularly those who are on fixed incomes, this program is a real helping hand” Hickernell said. “As of May 30, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue had received 463,672 rebate applications, and I appreciate the department extending the deadline so many more families and individuals who may have forgotten to apply have the opportunity to submit their paperwork.”

Eligible participants can receive a rebate based on their rent or property taxes paid in 2013. The program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities. Rebate checks are scheduled to be mailed out starting July 1 to those who have already submitted applications. Claims sent in after June 30 will be distributed as they are received and processed.

Residents are reminded to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately.
