HARRISBURG – Rep. Dave Hickernell (R-Lancaster/Dauphin) invited Pennsylvania Fair Queen Lia Schmittel to the Capitol on June 4 to introduce her to the House of Representatives and present her with a House Citation for her many accomplishments.

“As the representative for the 98th District, I wanted Lia to know how proud folks in Elizabethtown and Londonderry Township are of all she has done so early in life,” Hickernell said. “Lia was crowned 2013 Elizabethtown Fair Queen in August. And in January, she triumphed over 58 other contestants to add the title of 2014 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen to her long list of achievements, becoming the first Elizabethtown Fair Queen to win the State Fair Queen title.”

The daughter of Scott and Deb Schmittel of Londonderry Township, Lia graduated from Lower Dauphin High School in 2012 and went on to attend Delaware Valley College where she is studying large animal science and management.

“Having accomplished so much so early in life, it is clear Lia has a very bright future ahead of her and she will continue to excel and make her parents, and all of us, very proud,” Hickernell said.
