Hickernell Re-Appointed House Republican Deputy Whip for 2007-2008 Legislative Session
2/15/2007
Rep. Dave Hickernell (R-98) again is serving as a State House Republican Deputy Whip for the 2007-2008 legislative session.

House Republican Whip David Argall recently re-appointed Hickernell for a third consecutive legislative session. Hickernell has served in this capacity in each of his previous two terms representing the 98th Legislative District in the State House.

Deputy Whips have a variety of responsibilities on the House floor, such as assisting in member head counts or helping promote certain tough issues that face the Caucus. They also keep Argall informed of problems that members may have, or issues that might have an effect on the legislative agenda and on the Caucus as a whole.

“I’m honored to continue my service to our Caucus as a Deputy Whip,” said Hickernell. “Rep. Argall has expressed his confidence in me with this appointment, and I will do my best for the Caucus, drawing on my previous legislative experience.”

Prior to being elected in 2002, Hickernell was a staff person for the House Republican Caucus for 17 years. His positions included Director of the House Policy Committee, Executive Director for the Majority Whip’s Office, and Executive Assistant to the Majority Appropriations Chairman.

“I’m very pleased that Rep. Hickernell has again agreed to serve in this position,” Argall said. “He is a diligent and effective legislator who is respected by his colleagues in our Caucus. I look forward to a productive legislative session and I expect to work closely with Rep. Hickernell in his role as a Deputy Whip.”
